Bulk Savings Program 

In 2019 we will be offering bulk rate discounts for purchases of whole and half animals. The intent is to give more value to the customer while providing a bit more flexibility than a CSA style program.

The Black Locust farm bulk savings program is our way of providing the absolute highest quality meat in Vermont to our local community at an affordable price. We will do all of the complicated logistical work of transportation, slaughter coordination, communication with the butcher, and delivery to you. This of course includes raising our animals is the best possible beyond organic  environment while focusing on animal welfare throughout the process.

 

We do this so YOU can focus on your food and your life and not feel overwhelmed with what can traditionally can be a complicated process of payments, pickups, hanging weights and all additional complications that come with buying whole and half animals direct from farmers.

We charge for exactly what you get in your hand by the pound.

We require a deposit for most these programs, and rates and details vary based on quantity and the desired products.

Pasture Raised Chicken: Available Year Round

  • 10 % Discount from retail price.

  •  Minimum order of 10 chickens.

  • Cost will be 4.50/lb. Birds can weight between 4 and 6 pounds.

  • All chicken will come whole - processed right on the farm

Pasture Raised Lamb: Taking orders now for end of November

Whole Lamb

  • $125 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 40-50 pounds of lamb will be ready for you to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is about $480 at a price of $12.00/lb. 

  • That is a 250$ savings over retail.

 

Forest Raised Pork: Available for July and October

Half Hog

  • $200 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 70-75 pounds of pork will remain after processing to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is $630 at a price of $8.99/lb. 

  • includes smoked Bacon, smoked hams for additional fee.

​Whole Hog

  • $250 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 140-150 pounds of pork will remain after processing to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is $1190 at a price of $8.50/lb.

  • includes smoked Bacon, smoked hams for additional fee.

 

Each animal is unique and every order differs, altering the final outcome. Pigs can weigh up to 300lbs which will affect your final price.

Grass Fed Beef:  Taking orders now for end of November

Quarter Share

  • $250 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 75 pounds of beef will remain after processing to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is $825 at a price of $10.99/lb.

Half Share

  • $500 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 150 pounds of beef will remain after processing to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is $1,573 at a price of $10.49/lb. 

 Whole Share

  • $1000 non-refundable deposit required.

  • Approximately 300 pounds of beef will remain after processing to put into the freezer.

  • Total estimated cost is $2,997 at a price of $9.99/lb. 

 

Each animal is unique and every order differs, altering the final outcome. Cows can weigh up to 1200lbs which will affect your final price.

Holiday Turkeys:  Available before Thanksgiving & Christmas

  • 10 % Discount from retail price.

  • Cost will be 5.50/lb. Birds can weight between 13 and 25 pounds.

  • Requires a $25 deposit per turkey to secure your order.

  • Each bird will be weighed, we will subtract the deposit on pick up and you will pay the difference.

  • All turkeys will come whole - processed right on the farm

**Quantities and price per pound listed above are estimates only. Price per pound is based off  of a basic butchering cost and can increase with additional processing related to smoking, linking, curing, specialty cuts etc.
